Tremors 3: Back to Perfection (2001)

Reviews and Comments

Not as good as the first two but still a fun B movie
Burt Gummer (Michael Gross) is back and this time he's prepared. Burt has made a career out of hunting those big worms and after a successful graboid hunt, Burt returns to Perfection Nevada to discover that the town has been turned into a tourist trap. Jack Sawyer (Shawn Christian) is running a graboid safari ride ripping off Perfection Valley tourists until the day when a real graboid comes along. This time Burt is prepared he's graboid proofed his house and has all the necessary supplies to kill them. Just before he leaves to destroy the graboids in Perfection once and for all, three government agents come and stop Burt from killing the worms because they are an endangered species. The agents head out to capture a live graboid but only one returns after being attacked by shriekers. So Burt heads out with Jack, Chang (Susan Chuang), and Miguel to stop the shriekers but they mutate again. Now the town of Perfection has to find a way to stop the new creatures before they take over town and then the rest of Nevada.

Tremors 3: Back to Perfection isn't as good as the first or second because it doesn't have as many laughs and thrills. The acting is decent but the special effects aren't as good as the first two because they used CGI so the graboid just doesn't look like a graboid. Other than that it's still a decent movie and most tremors fans will enjoy it.

Far from perfection
Well, nobody could have expected the first movie with its giant, burrowing worms to be as good as it was. And we certainly didn't have any right to expect that the sequel to that film would be nearly as clever and entertaining. With this third installment, the "Tremors" series finally ran out of gas. Burt Gummer (Michael Gross) was excellent comic relief, but he's too much of a characature to command leading man status. The tired script doesn't require the characters to think their way out of their dilemma the way the previous two movies did. A scene in which Burt survives being swallowed is particularly ridiculous, as is the latest matamorphosis of the graboids.

FANS OF THE SERIES SHOULD ENJOY THIS ONE I SURE DID!
Ok..Ok.. I have to admit I didn't think they could really pull off anything with a third entry......I was wrong! This is not as good as the original, but what movie sequels are?? This is a very funny addition to the franchise and well worth viewing for the fan of the series. The DVD is a very good transfer too!
