Sleepaway Camp (1983) |
Reviews and Comments

One of My Fav'sSleep away camp, is one of the best campy horror movies out there. Like the original "friday the 13th" I loved the originality of this movie, there is nothing like it. THe killings are awesome because the gore isn't always seen, so it leaves alot up to the imagination. The plot is great, the acting is good. The ENDING IS THE BEST JAW DROPPER OF ALL TIME in fact nothing, that I have ever seen such an ending in any other horror movies, it was strange, bizarre, creepy and OH so differently refreshing!!!

Predictable yet brilliantI first watched this film on IFC and fell in love with it. All though most of it was just as predictable as any other 80's slasher flick, this one stood out with the mysterious aura of the main character, Angela, leading up to the shocking ending.

Not a bad slasherI saw this years ago in theatres when I was a kid and completely forgot about it. I didn't even remember the name of this movie. I'm kind of glad that I decided to check it out anyway. It truly felt like I was watching it again for the very first time. If not for the ending this would be just another average slasher. The ending makes it a bit above average. But seriously, how anyone didn't see that coming is beyond me. In fact the entire movie is extrememly predictable from the very start. There was no real thought put into this from where I see it.
The story was definitly good for its time. Two cousins go away to summer camp. One is constantly being bullied and the deaths start to pile up. That's pretty much it right there.
The movie is pretty well paced and I thought the acting was good. It did a real good job making the victims deserve their deaths. The deaths are pretty brutal but it should have been more graphic. I was cheering for the killer. I didn't find the movie scary at all but it was still entertaining all the way until the end. Sleepaway Camp is definitly worth a watch for die hard slasher fans and the ending makes it even more worth a watch.
