Intellectually and spiritually satisfying
This is a low key movie based on real people. Rome was a tense place during WWII. Though it was not the scene of any pitched gun-battles, it was the scene of many a spiritual battle and I know of no better movie about that period. Acting is top notch and people are three dimensional rather than the "cartoonish" characterization of so many WWII movies.

The biggest payoff is that these events actually happened.

Awesome movie
This is an awesome movie that shows the suffering and sacrifices made by many during WWII and made with lots of love and some humor.
