WHERE IS THE DVD??????
I SAW THIS MOVIE WHEN I WAS 17.... OVER 20 YEARS AGO "I LOVED IT!", Would like to buy it on DVD...or i'll settle for VHS? the acting was great Hurt and Raul were terrific

spellbinding!
It is a superb movie because, put simply, it has superb acting and
direction; and the story is sad, and great--highly recommended!

Romantic versus Realist: PLEASE RELEASE THIS ON DVD!!!!!
This movie is an excellent, poetic, dramatic depiction of conflicting approaches to life embodied in a realist and a romantic: the realist is a subversive leftist, obsessed with justice and revolution; the romantic is a cross-dressing homosexual, obsessed with love and the fantasy world of celluloid film. Both are imprisoned for their deviance in an unnamed repressive Latin American state. Imprisoned together. And so it begins, with the oh-so-different characters -- warning: spoiler -- switching world views in the end, with the revolutionary giving in to bourgeois romantic delusions and emotion, and the homosexual risking and ultimately sacrificing his life for a political cause (albeit somebody else's). Julia and Hurt are both amazing, and the contrived snippets of German WWII era propaganda films, narrated by Hurt and imagined by Julia, make the film worthwhile on their own. Sonia Braga is captivating in her silence. A fantastic film, a masterpiece, that demands to be released on DVD. Please release the DVD already!!!
