The Howling (1981) |
Reviews and Comments

Highly Underated!!!I write this because I am a huge fan of this movie and other types of films like it (I'm also new at writing reviews, so don't sue me if my review has errors). For starters you've got to give Phillipe Mora credit for making this film (and he's no stranger to the series because he also directed "Howling II"), it was a gutsy move for him to play fun at the werewolf lengend for creating a new species of marsupial lycanthrope and to make them sympathatic creatures, this is showing a message of discrimination and racism, plus showing later on in the film human-werewolf realations. Another thing is the actors , sporting good performanses by Australian actor Barry Otto (father of "Lord of the Rings" Miranda Otto), the lovely Imogene Annesley (best known for her roles on "Farscape" and "Queen of the Damned"), the synical Ralph Cotteriel (who would later appear on the series "Ultraman Great"), and Czech actress Dasha Blahova as a recently defected Siberan ballarina (whose is in fact a classic werewolf). This is personaly my favorite of the "Howling" series because of its originallity and for a fact it was the first one I ever saw, I highly recomend it to anyone who is interested.

flopy, sucky.yucky!I dont understand how some people can give this flick 4 stars!? I will not watch this movie again.

Great DVD for a okay werewolf flick.(I am over 13 by the way, this is just easier.) HOWLING III is a really weird film. But it is so weird that it is really entertaining. It takes place in Austrailia, and a new race of werewolves have been born. Marsuplial-werewolves (hence the name). Believe it or not, there are werewolf nuns in this movie! But the DVD is the best part. It has been beautifully remastered and now is in widescreen. There are two really good extras worth mentioning. The trailer and the Director's Commitary. You should check them both out. Special effects are cheezy, but what did you expect?
