Darkness Falls

Darkness Falls (2003)

Reviews and Comments

My dentist is much scarier than this Tooth Fairy
A semi decent ghost tale based on the Tooth Fairy. A woman was killed being blamed for the disappearance of two children. She put a curse on the town and since then has returned to exact her revenge.

Darkness Falls began interesting enough but the antagonist, who is the Tooth Fairy. Lost her spark early in the movie. Simply because of too many appearances and just not enough flash. It just wasn't scary anymore, not that it ever was to begin with. Hearing a spirit growling and hissin' in the dark does get old. And that's one of the things this movie does wrong.

The Tooth Fairy wasn't that bad of a character. In fact a few scenes towards the end is what saves this movie from being a train wreck. The scenes during the hospital escape utilized the dark atmosphere of this movie the best. Plus the acting was pretty good, especially when compared to what the horror genre usually dishes out.

I didn't find Darkness Falls to be that bad of a movie. It may be worth a rental for some. It's definitly not horrible to me. Now House 2 and Boogeyman, thats horrible. And Darkness Falls is not horrible to me.

Semi-Scary
This was a fair movie. Not a lot of scare to it, though. Good story and acting. Don't spend too much on this and you'll be glad.

Toothless
Someone told me this was the scariest horror film he'd ever seen. I think that person should stay home more, and not rest his laurels on his movie reviewing skills. I can't think of another horror film in the last 5 years that was worse than this one--and I don't want to. The premise was interesting enough with its Ring-like introduction and legendary hooks. A woman wrongly accused of being a childkiller returns from the grave to kill children as the Tooth Faerie, upon losing their last baby tooth. Maybe the first 30 minutes of the film were interesting with quite creepy visuals, but beyond that very nonintuitive leaps were made in the plot--one too many changes of heart and nicks of time--and I just viewed its remainder as a comedy. After that shift in focus I liked it very much.
