Bubba Ho-tep (2002) |
Reviews and Comments

Long Live Bruce CampbellI hesitate to write a review on this film after reading all of the other reviews on the same. However . . . I simply couldn't resist the temptation to insert my two cents' worth.
I LOVE this film. It's one of my "feel good" films. And, I agree with a couple of the other reviewers in that I also believe/feel that this film is multi-layered. It's funny and outrageous and also incredibly saddening.
I am biased because I think Bruce Campbell is fabulous. I both admire and envy him. He's a very talented man.
To me, BUBBA HO-TEP is outrageous and cheesy and wonderfully inventive and just plain old good adult fun.
Buy it if you need a good, guilt-free giggle.

Two kinds of PeopleI use to believe the saying that there are "two kinds of people in this world...bla bla bla" to be trite and superficial, that is until watching this movie and reading the reviews about it. Bubba Ho-Tep has instilled me with hope that there may still be a glimmer of creativity left in American film making. The avalanche of horrible films made each year is depressing. I would really rather stay at home and watch the Turner Classic Movie Channel than go see the garbage that passes for film making these days. Bubba Ho-Tep is a wonderful film full of humor and pathos. The story line is merely a facade for a tender movie regarding a persons essence and dignity. It is also nice to see Elvis dying the death of an evil fighting hero than a bloated drug addict dying on a bathroom floor. In the end, there are two kinds of people - those that like Bubba Ho-tep and those that do not. Personally, I just prefer not to associate with those that do not.
